The best is yet to come...discovering tiramisu
The best part of Tiramisu was making it. The recipe is courtesy of my brother, please check out his jewellery here! He is not Italian in any way but he is an excellent cook! He suggested using less sugar, because the cookies are so sweet already! Genius! The Tiramisu was so smooth, not overly sweet and just beautiful in every bite.
Artur’s Tiramisu
4 eggs
6 tablespoons sugar
500g mascarpone
500ml whipping cream
2 cups espresso
6 tablespoons Marsala wine
60-80 sponge finger biscuits
Cocoa powder for dusting
In a large bowl beat the egg yolks with the sugar until smooth and creamy. Add mascarpone and mix in. Beat the cream separately and add to the mixture. Beat the egg whites in a separate bowl and add to the mixture.
Place the espresso and the wine in a shallow dish. Soak the cookies making sure they are not falling apart but also are not too dry as well. Place the cookies in a large serving dish, cover with one layer of mascarpone mixture, place more cookies and finish off with the second layer. Sprinkle with cocoa just before serving!
It is the best made a day ahead, so all the flavours mix well together. Heavenly!
My brother also suggested making a kid friendly version, soaking the cookies in warm milk as opposed to espresso-alcohol adult version. It was very tasty as well! I guess you could also soak it in chocolate milk!
Making this made me very happy. There is something amazing and perfect in the combination of all the ingredients here. Coffee, sweetness of the marsala wine, fluffiness of the mascarpone, egg whites and whipped cream...what could be better than this? It is also so beautiful to look at and to put together.
I almost felt as if I was painting a picture or creating happiness, dancing in the air. If you make it I hope it will make you happy.
Life is too short- eat Tiramisu :)
and listen to good music
